What kind of Massage do you offer?

I am qualified as a sports rehabilitator and trainer, and able to treat soft tissue injuries from acute stage through to competing and general life. After 13 years in the business I now treat holistically covering all forms of massage from relaxing to deep tissue, from injuries to general discomfort caused by everyday life.

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is the scientific manipulation of soft tissue within the body, in order to increase its ability to function at its best. It is about initiating the healing process, breaking down scar tissue, and increasing flexibility and strength. Sports Massage is excellent for helping the body to recover from training or competing, and preparing the body and mind for competition.

What is Soft Tissue Massage?

Soft Tissue Therapy, or Soft Tissue Massage, is a more holistic approach to the soft tissue. Sports Massage can be focused on more pre and post injuries, addressing immediate problems and supporting recovery in a way which supports your supporting ability. The two crossover because a lot of massage techniques are very similar. The difference is in how they are delivered. You can stimulate the tissues in a different way to excite or calm the nervous system.

What can Massage treat?
Massage therapy can be used to treat a wide range of complaints. For example, sports injuries, ongoing back pain, general discomfort. It is also good for preparing the body for exercise, such as in advance of a game or race. It increasing the blood flowing through the muscle, so it flushes out waste and brings in nutrient rich blood.

What are the benefits of regular Massage?
Relieving pain and tension, increasing mobility and flexibility over time. In increasing the strength and efficiency of the muscles, we can work to prevent further injury by taking the strain off the whole system. Whether you are a regular sportsperson, or your job involves sitting at a desk - massage can have benefits for everyone.

What to expect once you arrive?
You will be greeting and booked in by our friendly reception staff. If this is your first appointment, there will be some short forms to fill in.

We start with filling out some forms, so that we can better understand your current health and what you want to achieve. We will then talk through them, so that we can tailor the treatment to your needs. Your Initial Appointments will be one hour. This is to give plenty of time for you to talk to your therapist about your needs and expectations.

Going forward, you have the option to book either 30 minute massages or 45 minute massages.
